Car couture is blooming marvellous

SOME of us, when buying our first car, like to personalise it. Younger men drivers tend to opt for exterior enhancements, such as those rather off-putting lights under the car body or spoilers added to rev up their wannabe racemobiles.

Some even cheekily stick on a GTi badge, honestly believing it will give their car more street cred.

Girls tend to be a little subtler in their choice of personalisation, leaning more towards internal soft furnishings for their car.

Pink is the favoured colour, unsurprisingly. Did you know, though, that pink is actually a symbol of rebellion? Possibly this could explain some of the dodgy driving I am, sadly, witnessing amongst female drivers these days.

Anyway, I remember decking my trusty old Morris Minor Traveller with a massive assortment of toys. I cannot believe I am admitting to this. Back then, it was the 'in' thing to do. I had loads of little stick-on toys all around the dashboard, furry seat covers with a matching steering-wheel cover, a selection of cuddly toys on the back seat and a huge bear that sat quietly in the boot.

I did, however, draw a line at the pink fluffy dice that could be dangled from the internal mirror, as I thought that looked stupid.

Well, it appears personalising your car is still very much the order of the day. At the London Fashion Week it was positively blooming, thanks to the Vauxhall Agila being chosen to model this season's must-have, ultimate car accessory; the first ever "Car-sage" - a flower corsage designed exclusively for the car. Produced in hot-pink satin, the Dahlia Car-sage was created by renowned British accessories designer Johnny Loves Rosie to celebrate the launch of the new Agila. Used to adorn the inside of the car, the Car-sage can be clipped to the seatbelt or dashboard to give the car the ultimate feminine touch. With celebs such as Sarah Jessica Parker and Agyness Deyn adding corsages to their wardrobes, why not include the car?

And there was me thinking pink, fluffy dice looked stupid.
