New Astra takes style from Insignia

THE first clue of what the next version of the Astra will look like has been released by Vauxhall.

The sketches reveal flowing lines similar to that of the company?s new Insignia which will replace the Vectra later this year.

To be built at Ellesmere Port near Liverpool, the new Astra will be first shown at next year?s Frankfurt Motor Show.

Vauxhall says the latest Astra will be built on a completely new chassis with new low emission engines.

Features such as Vauxhall?s FlexFix cycle carrier as used on the Corsa are also likely to be included on the new model as will the Front Camera System from the Insignia which combines traffic signal recognition with a lane departure system.

The new Astra will be the tenth generation small family car to be built at Ellesmere Port since the Vauxhall Viva in 1964.
