A PEDIGREE pooch worth £6000 has been dognapped from its Symington home.
The two-year-old black pug bitch was snatched from Damhead Bridge Farm, in Tarbolton Road, sometime on Friday night.
Her devastated owner Arthur Thomson, who breeds show dogs, is offering a £2000 reward for her safe return.
The pooch, called Pugsie, was taken from a kennel which she shared with a Japanese Chin dog.
Arthur said: “I noticed Pugsie was missing when I went to feed the dogs on Saturday morning.
“I was gutted. She is an amazing little dog and such a character.
“I know she has been stolen. The thieves didn’t take the Japanese Chin.
“Pugsie is very rare. There are not many, if any, in Scotland like her with her champion show breeding.
“She will be worth about £6000. Her pups could be worth up to £1000 each.”
Pugsie, whose kennel name is Damheadbrig Dollymint, has a pure black coat. She was not wearing a collar or chipped.
Police are investigating the incident.
Arthur has put up posters all over Ayrshire offering a reward for Pugsie.
He has also spent hours putting appeals on the internet and has enlisted help from the charity, Dog Lost.
Arthur, a ship engineer, said: “I’ve even told my friends who work on the ferries to look out for anyone trying to take my dog out of the country.”
Anyone with information about Pugsie should phone Arthur on 01563 830132.
