Big hearted mum to raise £250,000 for charity

A FUNDRAISING mum is ready to rake in £250,000 for her favourite charity.

Hard working Eileen Granger will devote 12 months to money making pursuits.

And she wants to rack up the huge pile of cash for CLIC Sargent, who’ve helped her son Ross in his battle with cancer.

Next year marks the five year anniversary of little Ross being in remission from his kidney complaint.

And Eileen wants to pay tribute to the team at Prestwick’s Malcolm Sargent House, where Ross is now a popular fixture.

She revealed: “It’s a big cause for celebration to have Ross reaching five years in remission and I wanted to mark that by doing something special.

“I’ve already raised £200,000 for CLIC Sargent since we found out about his condition, so my target is to reach £250,000 by the end of next year.

Eileen, 40, has become one of Malcolm Sargent’s key fundraisers since Ross was left with just half a kidney.

And she’s just been nominated as Scotswoman of the Year for 2009.

Eileen said: “I’ll be doing everything from a zip slide to walking the West Highland Way to raise the money, and I’m really looking forward to it.”

Malcolm Sargent’s fundraising chief May Gilchrist said: “Eileen and her family do so much positive work for the charity and I’m sure she’ll enjoy a great year of fundraising.”
