Brush up on beauty tips

IN the summer you need to approach hair and make-up differently from the winter months.

If we are lucky enough to get hot weather you won’t want to be wearing a heavy make-up that ends up in a greasy pool that gradually slides off your face as the temperature rises.

You just want to achieve a healthy glow.

If you have a tan the lightest of make-up treatments is all you really need.

That can be achieved by today’s superb range of tinted moisturises which even out skin tone while nourishing the skin.

The added bonus is they won’t melt off your face.

Most tinted moisturisers also give you a certain amount of UV protection but always check on the packaging to see that this is of an adequate level.

They shouldn’t replace any sunscreen protection that you should be giving any exposed part of your body when the sun comes out - and that goes for even on duller days too.

You might like to go for a lighter hair colour and light blonde highlights can show off a tan beautifully. If your hair is dark brown or black, why not consider caramel highlights?

Colour also adds body to fine hair which can also tend to be limp.

But remember to protect coloured hair with one of the many products on the market as a hot sun can affect any colour and, remember, it also naturally lightens hair.

Don’t forget to care for your feet.

Wearing sandals will expose a multitude of winter sins and nothing is more horrible than seeing someone with bare feet whose old, hard skin, or corns haven’t been removed.

Visit a podiatrist or chiropodist in the first instance to get your feet in top top condition and then carry on care of them at home with the many products on the market which you can buy at any good chemist.

Having your hair cut and styled professionally every few weeks will help keep its shape when the temperatures soar and make it so much easier to manage.

Your hair stylist can help you enormously with professional advice on how to care for your hair at home in between your regular salon visits.

Hairdressers undergo a long period of training, and constantly undergo courses to keep in touch with the latest hair cutting techniques and technology.

You can be sure the advice they give is first class.
