Town centre hotel gets a new look and name

IT used to be the Kylestrome – right now it’s the Cariston – but from Friday, October 31, it will become The Ivy Rooms after a £500,000 makeover.

The re-development is a brand-new venture by owners Dark Star, the fast-growing leisure company that is a new subsidiary of the Glasgow-based McKever Group who also operate Belleisle Hotel in Ayr.

Area manager Vincent Roarty explained: “The Ivy Rooms will be five-star luxury at three to four-star prices.

“In the last few months, we’ve been busy gutting the interior of the building. We now have 13 luxury bedrooms with fabulous bathrooms, complimentary toiletries, plasma-screen TVs, the most comfortable beds imaginable, Egyptian cotton sheets, and the finest furnishings.

“We've completely revamped the dining room and function room which can now handle some 120 guests.

“We’ve also installed south-facing decking for the summer months.”

On the opening night there will be live music and free champagne and nibbles for those who obtain a pass by calling 01292 262474 or email launch@darkstarscotland.com
