Portrait of a new Ayrshire business

AN AMBITIOUS photographer has opened his own premises in Ayr.

And Scott Walker is offering a little more than most.

His new studio – Studio 70 – comes complete with a shop front selling frames, albums, mounts and a range of artwork.

Further into the premises and Scott has a modern viewing room which has a comfortable living room feel to it with a large LCD screen on the wall, which customers can view their photographs on.

It’s a dream come true for Scott who has seen his career going from strength to strength.

Scott said: “I have been working within the photographic trade since leaving school 10 years ago.

“I started my career in a small photo store in Asda where I worked for two years.

“I was then offered a job in a well photographic store in Paisley where I helped run the store for eight years.

“During my last four or five years with the company I ran their small portrait studio which helped me gain most of the skill I have today. I never attended college, I’m proud to say that I’m self-taught.

“I feel that with photography you either have an eye for it or you don't, it’s not something that’s easy to teach.

“Working day to day with cameras and photo editing software, attending my local camera club and undertaking photographic assignments on the side has given me all the skills I need.”

He continued: “Although there are quite a few photographers in Ayr, there is really only one other who has a shop front premises and when we got the opportunity for our Sandgate site, the location was too good to pass up on.

“We felt that even with all the other photographers in Ayr, we could offer something a bit different.

“We pride ourselves on being very friendly, approachable, easy going and most importantly affordable.

“We don't want our customers to feel pressured into buying from us, if they like what they see that’s great, if they can’t afford to buy lots of images then that’s okay, as long as they have fun and want to recommend us to their friends and family then we’re happy.”

From Studio 70, Scott also offers photo restoration, video transfers, passport photos and much more.
