£400,000 extension to be made to Troon hotel

A TOP Ayrshire hotel is to get a £400,000 extension.

Planning permission has been approved to build a new pavilion at the landmark Piersland House Hotel in Troon.

The new building will house seven luxury rooms and will feature a living roof to help it blend into the landscape.

Stuart McPherson of Lawrence McPherson Associates, the architects behind the development, said: “Piersland House is a grade A building which has been carefully refurbished over the years and still retains all of its original features.

“We worked closely with the owners to ensure that the new part of the building would not only echo the original spirit of the building but blend in sympathetically with its garden surroundings.

“The new building will be located in what is now the Japanese sunken garden and will feature timber trellising and appropriate period features.”

Work on the extension is expected to be complete by spring next year.
