Plans unveiled for Troon arts festival

AN arts festival for Troon could be on the cards next year.

Councillor Bill McIntosh is organising the three-day event he hopes will go ahead next September.

And he wants the whole community to get involved.

Councillor McIntosh said: “At this stage I am looking at a diverse mix of the arts including arts and crafts, performing arts, the written word and cuisine.

“I envisage exhibitions of artworks, demonstrations, workshops, displays, music and dance, recitals and readings.

“But the invitation is not only open to the artistic community. I see local hotels, restaurants and bars all having a part to play either in hosting events or staging demonstrations.”

And already Councillor McIntosh has big hopes for the festival.

He said: “I hope that this initial event would lead to an annual Troon Arts Festival, but we have to run before we can walk.

“My next step is to hold a public meeting, and invite everyone along to explore the concept further, and put some meat on the bones of my idea.”
