AN Ayr group has netted £235,317 from the Big Lottery Fund.
And the cash will help A-CERT (Ayr – Community Engagement and Regeneration Trust) in its work in North Ayr.
The group is one of 15 across Scotland sharing £6.4 million.
And the cash is being targeted at supporting voluntary and community projects.
The money comes through the Dynamic Inclusive Communities initiative.
Councillor Hugh Hunter, leader of South Ayrshire Council, said the award was great news.
He commented: “I warmly welcome this Big Lottery funding secured by Ayr – Community Engagement and Regeneration Trust.
“And I heartily congratulate them for achieving the magnificent sum of £235, 317.”
Councillor Hunter added: “Ayr North is an area with pockets of acute social and economic disadvantage.
“During the last 10 years, South Ayrshire Council has provided significant resources to the area and to A-CERT, supporting the organisation in its transition from Ayr North Community Forum to its present structure.
“This award will allow A-CERT to work closely with those residents who have little or no involvement in community activity.
“And it will further boost the very positive joint community development work currently being undertaken in partnership with the council.”
