Julie's come a long way in her bid to stop smoking!

I'VE done it! I've managed to stop smoking for a full week now.

I wouldn't say it has been easy, but wearing nicotine patches provided by the Fresh Air-shire initiative have really helped ease the withdrawal symptoms.

I have almost finished the book my colleague Cheryl gave to me, Allen Carr’s Easy Way To Stop Smoking. I can’t believe how helpful it has been to me.

I'm eating plenty of fruit and veg this time as well.

Every time I think of a ciggie, I reach for my carrot sticks. Hopefully, I won't put on too much weight.

I also have more energy. The exercise bike has come out of the cupboard and to my amazement I am now able to cycle six miles every night.

My husband, Chris, has been very supportive. He is a smoker himself, but goes out to the garden every time he lights up.

He is now keen to try and quit as well, so he's very interested in my progress.

Also, all my workmates and friends are constantly telling me how well I am doing, which is a real boost.

The Fresh Air-shire initiative is operated by NHS Ayrshire and Arran.
