Ayr College course for future police force

COPS of the future can now hone their skills at Ayr College.

A new part-time police studies course kicks off when the new academic term begins after the summer.

The course will be delivered two evenings a week from their Dam Park campus over a 15-week block.

It will aim to prepare students wishing to apply for the police force by developing their skills in language, numeracy and information handling.

Students will also have the opportunity to improve on their interview techniques and their current fitness levels.

Ayr College Access to Further and Higher Education Curriculum manager, Dr Sooh Sweeney, said: “We had been receiving enquiries from those wishing to join the police force and identified a need to provide a short course that helped prepare candidates to apply.

“We have had a lot of interest in the new police studies course on offer and look forward to watch it develop throughout the year.”

The course will commence on September 8, with no entry requirements and students wishing to apply need only express an interest in joining the police force.

The new police studies course is just one of many new courses offered at Ayr College for evening class study.

There will be Open Evenings on Monday and Tuesday from 5pm to 7pm in the Dam Park campus to enrol for these courses.

Individuals can also book a course or find out more information by contacting 0800 199798 or by visiting www.ayrcoll.ac.uk.
