Getting set for Ladies night at Ayr Racecourse

LADIES’ night fever is sweeping Ayrshire as gorgeous girls gear up for the most glamorous night in town.

The big night at Ayr Racecourse will see 10 silver coins handed out to the best dressed women.

And the lucky ladies will then be in with a chance of winning some of the most spectacular prizes ever offered at the course.

The top prize this year is a silver Alfa Romeo Spider 2.2 JTS convertible worth £25,000, courtesy of sponsors Kerr & Smith/Iveco Trucks.

Second prize is a £3000 white gold Vivienne Westwood necklace and earrings set with diamonds and pearls and is provided by Oghams the Jewellers of Ayr and Edinburgh.

And third prize is a seven night Ocean Village cruise for two plus flights courtesy of Stewart Travel of Prestwick.

At the Ladies’ Day Final on September 19 there will be 27 ladies with coins and each will draw a horse running in the Silver Cup.

The holder of the winning horse lands the car, second the jewellery and third the cruise.

But first comes Ayr’s traditional Ladies’ Night and more than 7000 are expected to attend on Saturday when the first race is due off at 5.50pm. The final race on the card is at 8.50pm and following that there will be entertainment in both the Horseshoe Bar and in the Ayrshire Suite.

Counselled Out will be on stage in the Ayrshire Suite while Midnight appear in the Horseshoe Bar.

And this years WaterAid Ladies’ Night has been boosted by several shops taking part in a window display competition.

Those competing included The Pillar Box, Next, Debenhams and Hourstons in Ayr and Glitz in Kilmarnock with judges choosing Hourstons of Ayr as the winner.
