Ochiltree Gala draws a crowd

OCHILTREE Gala Day was certainly a memorable event.

This was the second year of the gala day’s welcome return after an absence of some time.

James Brown, JP, officially opened the proceedings in the primary school grounds, where last year’s royal party crowned this year’s Gala King and Queen, namely Jemma Hutchison, and Christopher Reid.

Visitors enjoyed watching a battle re-enactment and there were performances of various forms of dancing from pupils of the Jennie Campbell School of Dancing in Ayr.

There were also many other fun and exciting things to do, including visiting a fun children’s and craft zone.

And there was a special display of historical pictures in the school hall area, along with a short video showing the gala day in 1985.

‘Ochiltree’s Got Talent’ winners were: Under-14 years, Aida Leventaki; and Over-14 years, the popular band ‘Back to Square One’.
