Fun times at Coylton Gala Day

COYLTON Gala Day was a huge success – despite the changeable weather.

It was officially opened by new minister the Rev David Whiteman.

HMS Gannet, the Community Police, Maybole Pipe Band and Billy DJ all contributed to the success of the day, despite a sudden deluge just as the grand raffle was being drawn.

Everything had to be moved swiftly into the pavilion where the winning tickets were drawn.

So if you bought one, organisers ask you to check the full list of winners now posted up in Coylton’s shops.

There was also a pet show, fancy dress and float competitions to add to the fun of the day.

But the highlight is always the crowning of the Gala Queen, which this year was Laura Fleming.

Laura’s grandfather Jim Sym, who died six years ago, was Pipe Major in Maybole Pipe Band for many years.

So it was an extra special day for both band members and Laura when they played at the gala.
