A GROUP of six pals aim to raise pounds for the Ayrshire Hospice by doing the Three Peaks Challenge in 24 hours.
The challenge involves climbing the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales in one day — including the driving.
The super six, all in their 20s, are Neil Winstanley, Blair Thomson, Lawrie Winstanley, all from Ayr; Nick Bone and Robin Gosh, both Coylton; and Kevin Muirhead, Paisley.
Neil said this week: “Arnold Clark has offered us transport at a discounted price.
“And Ayr firm Falconer Minibus will pay for it.
“It’s tremendous sponsorship — now we just need someone to pay for the diesel!”
Neil and his pals make their Three Peaks bid on Thursday, June 5.
The peaks of course are Ben Nevis, Scotland, 4409ft; Scafell Pike, England, 3209ft; and Snowdon, Wales, 3560ft.
Neil has set up a secure online fundraising site: www.justgiving.com/neilwinstanley
He said: “We did the Caledonian Challenge last year, when a group of us walked from Fort William to Loch Lomond, in 24 hours, raising £3500 for charity.
“The Three Peaks may be even tougher, and I think we can guarantee a significant amount of suffering.
“All contributions will be very gratefully received.”
