Cumnock Music Festival

CREATE'S Cumnock Music Festival will kick off at 7pm on Friday, June 19, when The Complete Stone Roses will perform at Broomfield Playing Fields. The Roses will be supported by The Circle. Tickets will cost £10.

On the Friday, the Cumnock Rugby Club will host a Jamming and Dramming session, running from 9pm to late with free entry. Bring along your musical instrument to take part in the event. On Saturday, June 20, an AC/DC tribute band (Whole Lotta DC) will feature with local band So What at Broomfield Playing Fields.

The weekend culminates with a family fun day from noon at Broomfield Playing Fields. Entertainment on the day includes Macumba, Sonny and Rainbow, the Cumnock Academy Bands, various comedy acts, The Unknown, Strathclyde Fire Brigade, Strathclyde Police and much more.

The weekend concludes from 7pm on Sunday, June 21, with the band Counselled Out supported by the Sensational Mary Barclay Band in Broomfield Playing Fields. Tickets will cost £10.

PHASE five of the Woodroad Regeneration Project is on the horizon with exciting plans for the future. A 600 square metre building will create 20 jobs for the local area.

This building would hold a coffee house, a games room, a kitchen and a crèche. It is hoped that the building would be booked for parties, functions and weddings.

CUMNOCK Academy pupils were in the list of prizewinners at the Troon Basketball Club DBG Engineering awards ceremony held recently in Troon.

Jamie Alexander was awarded the best defensive player in the Junior National League team; David McPheat was awarded the best defensive player in the Junior Strathclyde League team, and Josh Crolley was awarded the most improved player in the Senior National League team.

THE WOODROAD Regeneration Project is organising a fundraising event with the sensational Buller Reid and Friends performing. This fundraising venture will take place from 8pm to midnight on Friday, June 19, in St John’s Church Hall, Glaisnock Street, Cumnock. Tickets, which include a buffet, will cost £4 and they are available from Kenny’s Menswear and the Woodroad Office. CUMNOCK Amateur Musical Production Society (CAMPS) will be embarking on a new adventure when they take on a Musical Murder Mystery. The local theatre group will perform for Sanquhar and Kelloholm primary schools. The performance is designed for family fun, education and entertainment.
