GIRVAN Folk Club welcomes Irish group, the Canniffe Family, on Friday, June 26.
Hailing from Cork, the band has been playing together since 1992, utilising a variety of instruments.
And they have played widely in the UK, US and Europe, as well as their native land.
Mary, the mother, is a gifted singer and also plays bodhran.
Tony, the father, plays guitar, banjo, mandolin and concertina.
Eldest son Tim plays guitar, keyboard and mandolin, and Dermot is on fiddle, whistle and sometimes saxophone.
All of them sing, sometimes unaccompanied and in harmony. Their music is mainly from the Irish tradition.
But this doesn’t stop them playing Scottish, Cajun and Bluegrass.
People have been trying to put a label on them for years – but ‘fun’ may be the most appropriate word.
The concert starts at 8.30pm in the Queen’s Hotel and tickets priced £6 are available at the door.
