Cumnock music bonanza celebrates Homecoming

TO celebrate the 250th anniversary of the birth of Robert Burns, Create will officially launch the Cumnock Music Festival 2009 one week early this year on Friday, June 12, to celebrate the homecoming in Scotland.

To mark this event they’ll be hosting a evening of Scots music by two of the best traditional bands on the scene at the moment, both of which have a huge following. This is sure a night where if you are not dancing, you'll be stamping your feet.

The event takes place in Cumnock Town Hall and tickets are only £5, doors open at 7pm (tickets are available from Kenny’s, Donsport and Cumnock Town Hall. Also on the door on the evening).

There is a licensed bar as always and a hot traditional Scottish meal will be available.

Create are grateful for the support with this years Music Fest from East Ayrshire Council, Minerals Trust, Mercat Hotel, Woodroad Regeneration Forum, Pulse Recording Studios, The Box House and the Royal Hotel...and many many other people. Without their help and support the Cumnock Music Festival would not exist.

The timetable is:

Friday, June 12, at 7.30pm in the Town Hall with the Homecoming Event featuring two of Scotland’s most exciting young bands - KOA and The Paul McKenna Band. Tickets cost £5 and are on sale at the Town Hall.

Friday, June 19 - The Complete Stone Roses supported by the Circle. Doors 7pm. Tickets £10. Licensed beer tent as always!

Jammin’ & Drammin’ session - Cumnock Rugby Club - 9pm till late. Free entry! Bring along your guitar, mouth organ, fiddle... or even yer pots n pans!

Saturday, June 20 - Whole Lotta DC (ACDC Tribute) with support from local heroes So What along with Ruth Campbell. Colin Hunter and Jamie Clark. All this for £10! Doors open 12pm.

Saturday, June 20 - Too REX (The ultimate tribute to Marc Bolan) with support from the best local band around - Roadster. An evening not to be missed. Tickets £10 with licenced beer tent. Doors 7pm.

Jammin’ and Drammin’ Session - Cumnock Rugby Club. 9pm. Late. Free entry.

Sunday, June 21 - Family Fun Day. This is a free event. Gates open 12pm, with loads and loads to keep the kids amused as well as plenty of music. Entertainment includes: Macumba, Cumnock Academy Bands, Sonny and Rainbow, Comedy Acts, Mix n Mingle Clowns, The Unknown, The Way, Volunteer Stalls, Strathclyde Fire Brigade, Strathclyde Police, Dance Displays and lots, lots, more.

Sunday, June 21 - Counselled Out (ever popular soul band) with support from Sensational Mary Barclay Band. Tickets £10. Doors 7pm.
