Beer festival planned for Troon

BEER lovers from across Ayrshire and beyond will be flocking to Troon next week for the ninth Ayrshire Real Ale Festival at the town's Concert Hall.

This year there will be 100 beers on offer as well as ciders, perries and wine.

Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) Ayrshire and Galloway branch chairman Mick Lee said: “This year it is bigger and better than ever with over 100 beers on offer.

“We will also have real ciders and real perries – all approved by Camra and not an ice cube in sight.”

This year, one of the festival's main backers is the Windie Goat Brewery, based at the Failford Inn near Mauchline.

And there will be example of all British beer styles Scottish milds like the Highland Brewery's Dark Munro and Belhaven 60/- to premium English bitters like Nethergate Umbel Magna from Suffolk and Thornbridge Jaipur IPA from Derbyshire.

As usual there will be the Camra products stall with the new edition of the Good Beer Guide and the new guide to the real ale pubs of Ayrshire and Wigtonshire will also be available.
