Borderline wins award

BORDERLINE Theatre group have scooped a top award for their production of “The Wall”.

The actors picked up the award for Best Ensemble Cast at the prestigious CATS (Critics Awards for Theatre in Scotland) ceremony in Glasgow.

The production, by DC Jackson, was set in Stewarton and has been a huge hit with audiences and critics around Scotland.

Borderline fought off stiff competition from Dundee Rep, The Royal Lyceum, Edinburgh and the King’s Theatre Glasgow to win the award.

Featuring a cast of just four young actors; Kirsten McLean, Finn den Hertog, Paul Hoatson and Sally Reid, the play greatly impressed critics.

“The sense of playful engagement with the text was tempered by an admirable professionalism, in which each actor presented perfect solos before rejoining the ensemble in perfect harmony,” said Scottish theatre critic Steve Cramer of Borderline’s work.

The award is a real boost to the company, who recently had their funding cut by the Scottish Arts Council.

Company producer Eddie Jackson has promised a safe future for Borderline, despite the funding cut.

They are currently working on several educational projects and two further productions.
