When will fast broadband arrive?

I NOTE from the Ayrshire Post (Friday, October 16) that MPs and MSPs from across the county are concerned about broadband speeds throughout Ayrshire.

Perhaps the named representatives, who incidentally belong to the party of government of this country for the past 13 or so years, might take a tip from the Finnish government who have recently announced a legally binding 1Mg/second broadband speed as from July 2010.

Obviously 1Mg is slow to those who have cable broadband in larger towns and cities but to us in the countryside it would be a giant leap forward.

The voting public are not convinced by words any more and action would be a little more acceptable now. However, I suspect that the present crisis gripping the country might well scupper any chance of faster broadband speeds in Ayrshire for the foreseeable future.

After all, the same politicians can't even organise a bypass for Maybole in a 30 year time span what hope us snail pace broadband users being helped by them with this matter.
