Every Little Helps but it's not free

“ARE you having a laugh?” as Andy Millman would say in the programme Extras.

I noticed in January of this year that the free air and free water service attached to the petrol station at Tesco in Whitletts Road, Ayr, was out of order, and duly reported the fact to staff inside at the counter. I was advised to make my observation known to customer services in the main shop, which I did.

A month or so later, the service was still out of order and again I reported it to customer services on four or five occasions, each time I was told my message would be passed on to the duty manager.

Sometime in August, some eight months later, lo and behold, there is now a new air and water facility.

Free – no way. Air is now 20p for five minutes, and if you want to top up your radiator or window washers, it will now cost £1.

Remember in these difficult times ‘Every Little Helps’ Tesco.
