SATURDAY, Sunday, temperatures of 23-25°C and the beach areas of Troon North Beach and Barassie Beach, packed with cars and, of course, people, and we estimated over 200 cars.
You can imagine scenes of panic when aforesaid people need the toilets in a hurry, only to find that the only toilet block serving such a huge area, is closed.
So what must people do? Try the swimming pool toilets? Too far – no time – it’s urgent. No bushes handy... paddle out to sea... tides out, so too far...
All it needed was a small amount of money to upgrade those toilets and leave them available. The powers that be cannot have studied the situation, or be aware that they may have to confront the dreaded health and safety.
All during the winter months, this area is used by the kite clubs, wind surfers etc, being one of the safest beaches, owing to shallow waters. Wouldn’t it be pleasant for them to know that a toilet block is available and possibly somewhere to change from wet suits etc?
South Ayrshire Council bleats about how they care for the population, but how can they hope to attract more tourists when such a basic necessity is not available? And not forgetting the community under their care. Seeing the crowded area these past two days, couldn’t even Portaloos be installed? Lack of these facilities is truly disgraceful, not to mention detrimental to health.
