Each month a pay ma cooncil tax

Jist tae keep oor standards high

For roads and parks and bins and things

And eh?……a trip to Dubai?!

An investment in golf I hear them say

bringin' rich gowfers tae the toon!

Don't worry 'boot fixing Dalmillin' course

They say…Jist shut it doon!

Shuttin' doon the swimmin' pools

it fills us fu' o' woe

and the shutting of Pet's Corner

It just makes oor anger grow.

A trip across the world is fine

When the cost's from yer ain purse

But whit'll foreigners think if they come

Tae a toon that's getting' worse.

The shops are shut and boarded up

Their windaes fu' o' posters

The Cooncil says it's dain' it's best

But they're a bunch o' roasters!

A letter fae a gent in Troon

Suggests we shut the Gaiety

In order he gets a Hole in One?

The response to that is weighty!

Noo we're a' allowed tae hae opinion

Bring foreign folks for social union

But whit o'a' the folk at hame

Wha' cannae swim or play a game?

Oor Rabbie wis the people's voice

He surely would be ragin'

to learn they hadnae had the chance

Their feelin's tae be stagin'!

So gaither a' yer weans and cronies

And meet at Wellington Square

It's oor only chance to state oor mind
