Time to take a chance on me

I HAD a recruitment stall at the Jarvis Hotel on Thursday, February 12 and it really brought home the amount of people, both young and mature, actively seeking employment.

I, as an employer, have the ability to offer 12 permanent places of work at Millionayr Casino in the following roles: bar staff, steward, chef, kitchen staff, domestics, waitresses, cleaners, etc. However, South Ayrshire Licensing have refused all proposals to create such work.

I would like to know if any of the eight members of the Licensing Board are in a position to make a similar offer of 96 jobs between them.

While I am well aware that a lap dancing bar in Ayr is not everyone’s cup of tea, however I fail to see in the current economic climate how such a moral stance is justifiable with more and more people losing their jobs and homes every day.

In the words of a famous politician, ‘A man who can make work for others deserves a chance’.
