Time to re-read the constitution

WHILE reading through the Ayrshire Post (published Friday, February 13) I noticed a safety announcement from South Ayrshire Council on building maintenance.

Is this the same council that neglected The Gaiety Theatre, Burns Cottage and the Tam O’Shanter Experience? The National Trust for Scotland stepped in to save the latter as buildings and artefacts were being ruined by ingress of weather.

Rumour has it closures are not finished yet – care homes, golf courses, activity centres. Good land for selling off to land developers? Rents going up by six per cent.

I think it is about time the elected councillors had a re-read at the constitution and all the others had a think about who put them there in the first place.

I would suggest they all sit down and have a viewing of Animal Farm, before they jet off for next year’s winter holiday. If they are so short of money, how can they justify a party of them flying out to UEA for the Dubai Open? I bet a lot of people on minimum wage would have loved a chance at being there.

Maybe you could also explain why these decisions are taken behind closed doors.
