Home Comment Ayrshire Post Letters

Just warm words and no action

I WAS staggered to see the comment of SNP Leader Nan McFarlane in last week's Ayrshire Post about holding on to her political beliefs and aspirations.

Why did the SNP Group not back the First Minister’s call to keep the Gaiety open or was the £3.7 million for the Walker Hall in Troon her price to back the cuts and closures across the rest of South Ayrshire?

But let's think about the human cost of the decisions hard working council staff are being asked to volunteer to make themselves redundant. Given the economic situation in the country, who, in their right mind, would adapt that at present, or does it just go to show how out of touch councillors and senior officials are?

But at least the public can now see that the only thing they will get from their local councillors is warm words and no action, and let us not forget the £5 million of our tax money is still missing in Iceland, which, if not invested badly, would maybe have prevented these cuts and closures.
