I READ in the paper last week about Mr Hunter finding £3.7 million for the halls in Troon. By any chance is that the £3.7 million that was set aside for the Gaiety Theatre re-furb, told to the public by the provost and then confirmed by Pat Wheelan?
I asked Councillor Toner at the open meeting of the Gaiety where this money had gone and was ignored.
The halls in Troon will need work done on them, as do most buildings South Ayrshire Council never maintain, but the theatre made in week run of the panto £120,000 profit. Where has this money gone, and do the halls in Troon make this amount in four weeks?
As the accused Hugh Hunter said in the paper last week: “The halls in Troon are higher priority than the Gaiety and the Girvan Swimming Pool.”
The theatre brings people in from all over the country to spend money in the towns. They spend nights in hotels, bed and breakfast. Also buying a ticket to a show or to the swimming pool puts money into the council, which goes towards Mr Hunter’s large pay. His other councillors’ pay as well as high paid council officials.
So, for the good of all the towns and the Tories, if they ever want to see themselves back on the council in Ayrshire, Hugh Hunter must go ASAP.
