Disappointed at Burns celebration

I AM writing to say I am very disappointed by the way South Ayrshire promoted the Homecoming. I’ve seen more celebrations on television, from other places than here.

The fact that the Bard was born in Alloway, they didn’t exactly go out of their way to make it memorable. If anything it seems to have been more about Tam o‘ Shanter than Burns.

Here is a poem that I feel summed up the day:

South Ayrshire Council no other surpasses

For a parcel of rogues, and stupid asses.

No Homecoming procession at Lovend

They said it’s too dangerous, coming round the bend.

But every weekend without fail

Cars are parked there tail to tail

And what of the museum they’re going to build?

Another promise as yet unfulfilled

They knocked down the toilets in Burns land

The very same week The Homecoming was planned

How do they hope to promote this place?

When the tourist attractions’ a total disgrace.
