Who owns Templeton House?

I WAS surprised to read that South Ayrshire council are planing to sell Templeton House.

As I was lead to believe the building was gifted to the people of Ayr by the Templeton family to be used for the sole purpose of a retirement/nursing home. In light of this I wonder when the council actually purchased the property to sell, and why buy something when you have the use of it for as long as you use it for that purpose.

It appears to me that this is another way in which South Ayrshire Council have wasted money which may have been spent elsewhere, perhaps better spent improving the service instead of closing it down. All I want to know is who actually owns Templeton House and if not South Ayrshire will the building be returned to its rightful owners so they could lease or rent the property to someone who will use it for the purpose it was intended for.
