I THOUGHT your readers would like to know of the situation unfolding at Loch Doon.
After reading my Ayrshire Post that they want to sell a wee bit of forestry to foreign investors, well they soon want to sell all our water off too.
I thought I had to convey my disgust to the state of what was one of the most beautiful and picturesque districts in South Ayrshire, Loch Doon in the Galloway Forest.
On a visit to capture landscape and scenic views this winter I found the roadside strewn with large boulder/stones dumped along the roadside with most access roads dug up with ugly ditches running their length. What a mess!
For years now people have flocked to its shores for fishing, camping and picnics.
I thought authorities and landowners were custodians of our land. It was held in trust for all the people and future generations to come, but maybe I am wrong.
What awesome power, authorities have today to dismiss pleasurable pursuits to all the people. What next I wonder?.
As a Scot, if this is the activities of foreign investors, what part of Scotland do we own (NONE).
It would take a hundred vandals a hundred years to destroy the landscape at Loch Doon.They are to be congratulated in doing it over a few weeks.
The Doon Valley has always been a deprived area. The poorest, relying on their loch for their kids holidays and recreation and enjoyment, more so at the summer holidays.
Have you seriously thought it through?
Taxpayer money well spent as usual.
