Suffering while everything closes

IT has been interesting to see that the Ayrshire Post has had an extremely large post bag of late, almost exclusively from readers trying with varying degrees of success to put across just how frustrated and angry they are with the absolute shambles that is South Ayrshire Council and its leading officials.

Never a week goes by without 'our elected and now remunerated' representatives and officials making a fool of themselves and by implication ourselves as they announce more closures of facilities as they try and readdress the scandalous mismanagement of our funds over the past number of years.

We continue to be the ones who suffer over a council who couldn't organise the proverbial in a brewery, never mind our budget.

The list is beginning to become endless as to closures and one wonders what our council actually see ahead?

Sadly we are stuck with them and I suppose must share some of the blame for voting them in – mind you was there any alternative?

Is there any way out for us - can we have a vote of no confidence in them?

Na, let's just sit there and watch them turn what is supposed to be a holiday town into a ghost town with diddly squate to attract visitors unless Rabbie Burns floats your boat or some of the PRIVATE golf clubs manage to attract enough rich foreign visitors.

Nothing this council does attracts many people, why would it as they are so out of touch with reality.

Civic, Gaiety, Centrum, Girvan swimming pool, now Dalmilling golf course, Prestwick swimming pool, Templeton House, Ayr United get little or no support, the roads are an absolute potholed disgrace, the streets are spit and fag covered throughout - oh and better not forget the dog mess.

What's left apart from numerous supermarkets – with many more to come if SAC have their way? Ayr Swimming Pool and the Citadel – by here those will attract visitors in their flocks won't they. I despair and I guess most people locally feel the same way – are you listening SAC?
