Time to welcome new supermarket

WITH reference to the article in the Ayrshire Post in which the new Sainsbury's store was discussed.

I am most perturbed by the ex councillor’s remarks that this store should not come to Prestwick. Does he have his head in the sand and his blinkers on?

Not only would the store bring 250 well-needed jobs to the area, it will also bring customers who will have travelled some distance to shop at the store.

Once these customers have been to the store they may decide that they would like to do a bit of shopping in Prestwick, or even stop and have a bit to eat or a cup of tea. Encouraging more trade to the centre of Prestwick.

I know a lot of the shops have closed in Prestwick but this has happened all over Scotland. Our councillor should be welcoming Sainsbury's to the town and look on it as a bonus and not as a hindrance.
