FURTHER to the published letter ‘Strange Rituals in Town’ (Friday, January 16). We also have lived in many different towns, but only in Scotland for eight months. Here in Mauchline we also have the custom of huge amounts of dog excrement on pavements and also chewing gum, fast food, vomit, cans, bottles and litter migrating to the front gardens and driveways.
We have met mostly friendly, intelligent and upstanding citizens during our time here, so who are the low life, cowardly, after-dark dumpers who have no respect for others or who are too lazy to consider anyone else?
As we have been informed, we have extra community officers, especially for these criminal offences. So especially in this 250th year of Robbie Burns, why is it getting worse and nothing being done? We are shocked by it, we presume that the many tourists who propose to visit this year will be also.
