I HAVE lived in Paisley all my life but, with family connections and many friends, Ayr is my adopted town.
As I get the Ayrshire Post every week, was shocked to read the council are once again thinking about closing the Gaiety Theatre.
Having had a long connection with Ayr Amateur Operatic Society, I’ve spent many hours in the theatre which has a charm of its own
The council keep talking about the year of coming home, so why close the jewel of the crown for tourists and locals.
I would like if someone from the council would print to explain that when the Poppelwell family ran it for years - never a loss - but the council takes over and are in the red every year. What a council to run the auld toon.
I hope the people of Ayr will remember this at the next council elections.
