Wonderful Woolies

I AM saddened to hear the news about Woolworths or Woolies as we affectionately know it.

As a child, like many others, I loved to visit the store and my own children still feel the same. A wee toy or a bag of pick 'n' mix always proves a treat and there is something for everyone. Like many others, I shop on the internet and at other stores but there is always something special about a wander around Woolies and I know I am not alone in thinking that.

As a regular customer, I was often impressed by the courtesy of the staff and I am aware that a number of staff have worked in the store for a considerable time and some are near retirement.

A last minute reprieve would be Christmas indeed for the staff but if there is not, we will all have lost a key part of our High Street.
