FURTHER to my letter of a few weeks ago regarding the naming of Prestwick as Robert Burns Airport.
I see another correspondent has supported my idea and asks ‘What can be done about it?’. As isolated individuals, the answer must be – not a lot.
Sensing that there is a groundswell of support lying dormant among Ayrshire folk, I respectfully suggest the following:
Would the secretary of Masonic Lodge 135 Tarbolton, the Lodge which proudly proclaims that the Bard was a member, care to lend your not inconsiderable support? Would any other Lodge care to join in?
Would all local Burns Clubs do likewise?
Surely you must support this idea of a permanent tribute to Burns.
What about our local MPs? I’m sure you won’t find a single dissenting voice.
Next, the Ayrshire Post. Could you spare some space to publicise this worthy cause?
Finally, to the chief executive of Prestwick Airport. Could you give the public your views on this subject.
If the organisations mentioned above could contact the chief executive of Prestwick Airport, my little bandwagon may gather some momentum.
