No bugs in the water supplies

WITH reference to the article entitled ‘Stomach bug bites families in the November 21 issue of the Ayrshire Post I would like to reiterate that the source of Cryptosporidium mentioned is not derived from the public water supply or work to re-lay pipes being carried out by Scottish Water in Ayr.

Scottish Water carries out exhaustive screening of drinking water supplies and intensive treatment of new pipes to eliminate any potentially harmful bugs or bacteria. All samples of drinking water to this part of Ayr have been clear. Laboratory tests of samples taken during the pipe improvements have confirmed that these were also clear.

Scottish Water is committed to public health and we work closely with health professionals to ensure that the public water supply is maintained to the very highest standards.
