The track to a ghost town

SO the good people of Ayr are to have extra trains to Glasgow from First Scotrail? (Ayrshire Post, November 21).

Take a look around this town and count the empty shops in the High Street, Sandgate, Ayr Central, Newmarket Street and more.

This town is dying and it is precisely because of ‘shoppers’ leaving Ayr for Glasgow and other shopping areas and NOT spending in their local shops.

Scotrail, shame on you for facilitating the exodus at a time when the local shops need support from the local population and to the people of Ayr, consider this: ‘be careful what you wish for.’

The result could well be a ghost town and what will that do to the value of your homes?
