Fly the flag again on the tower

THIS looks like being the first year I can remember when no flag has flown on one of Ayr’s best-known landmarks, the Wallace Tower.

Burns’ birthday – no flag; the Queen’s birthday – no flag; British Olympic triumph – no flag; Andy Murray in US Tennis Open final – no flag.

I don’t know it what it takes these days to get a flag flying on the Wallace Tower. St Andrew’s Day is probably the last hope this year.

But I wouldn’t put money on it.
