ONCE again our kids are off school because of strike action. This is twice now since the schools went back in August.
Kids were back two days and then were off on the Wednesday, then yet again our kids were off for a long weekend. This time back a day and back off on the Wednesday. Is this going to happen every time the kids have a school holiday? But yet, if you take your kids out of school out with school holidays, you can be fined.
So what about parents who don’t have anyone to look after their kids like myself who have to save holidays to cover in-service days which is almost a week’s holiday.
So strike action does not effect our kids education, but taking them on holiday outwith the school year does?
So if the education department can fine parents for this, then the rule should be the same for the unions as I am sure that a lot of parents will back me on this one.
And the same goes if our kids skip school, it’s the parents that get in trouble and are up in front of a panel.
So come on Mr McCabe and South Ayrshire Council and other councils, get the unions kicked into touch and tell them the same as parents are told it’s our kids’ education at stake.
