RAITH RESERVOIR (Prestwick): what a fantastic week of weather and it was the pensioners who had the advantage. Resident John Lothian had 16 fish but, in his excitement, forgot weights and methods again.

Some of the more sensible bags were W. Ure three rainbow and two blue for 9lbs on power bait, Gavin Derby four for 8lbs on power bait, T. Wilson (the only man with sunburn on his tongue) four on power bait, R. McLean three rainbow and one blue all on power bait average 2lbs, M. Hornby two rainbow and two blue for 9lbs on power bait, John Anderson three rainbow for 4½lbs on power bait and nephew Andrew one rainbow for 1½lbs on power bait.

In the amnesia department. W. McIntosh two fish, R. Baillie two on power bait, D05 two, two blue 2lbs 10oz and one rainbow 3lbs 4oz, two 2½lbs and 2¾lbs. A pair of glasses was found on Saturday, August 4.

BURNS TROUT FISHERY (Tarbolton): winner of the Mima Harvey open fly competition was Ian Scott with four fish for 11lb 5oz. Second was Kevin Murphy with four fish for 10lb and third was Tam Strachan with four fish for 9lb 12oz.

Results from the Mima Harvey open bait competition were: 1. Davie Ewart four fish for 10lb 7oz, 2. J Young four for 9lb 6oz, 3. Billy Simpson four for 8lb 12oz. A total of 83 fish were caught. The fishery thank Gamesport and Crockets for their donations and continued support.

SPRINGWATER FISHERY (Dalrymple): fly loch’s best catch of the week went to Mick Black with nine fish caught on the bung with black buzzers. Colin Walker had five on small drys.

Bait best catch goes to young Mathew Lewis from Ireland who had four fish, biggest 2lbs 6oz. Best bait was worm and power bait.

Coarse loch fishing well with plenty of roach and breem being caught. Scouse had another great day with roach and breem and also had seven small tench and small skimmers. Great to see these fish are breeding. It can only be good for the future.

BROOMHILL FLY & COARSE FISHERY (Patna/Rankinston B730): despite warm and sunny conditions, good catches falling to dries and buzzers, green and black fritz and lures.
