AYR ANGLING CLUB: river has fished well when conditions have allowed with M. McCorskie taking a nice clean salmon for 5½ lbs. There were reports of a large run of seatrout during the past week but no reports of catches.

Results from the Shankston pairs on Saturday were: 1. J. Hamilton and D. Morrison five fish for 11½ lbs, 2. T. Green and Mary Caddis three for4¾ lbs, 3. S. Ryan and A. Wood one fish for 2 lb.

A number of visiting anglers caught 15 fish for a total weight of 35lbs. Kay Morrison, 13, from Barassie, caught two fish for 5½ lbs one of which was tagged and won her a £10 voucher from Gamesport. Details from Billy Ritchie on 01292 880669.

SPRINGWATER FISHERY (Dalrymple): fishing a bit up and down due to the weather. Top catch on the fly was Adam Black with nine fish on a yellow dancer. Kenny Barrie and John Allardyce both had six.

Bait was good one day, not so good the other. Top catch goes to a family from Canada who had eight fish. Scott Ingram had four fish for 8lbs 1oz. Best bait was worm.

Coarse loch fishing well. Dezz had four carp between 5lbs and 12lbs 8oz. .Jim Amadalas had a stunning looking carp of over 8lbs. Still catching loads of roach and skimmer bream.

RAITH RESERVOIR (Prestwick): anglers could not have had better weather for the over 60s and founder members’ competition on Saturday.

Bill Gibson was first with four rainbows for 9lbs 4oz on power bait, silverware went to Shalako with four for 7lbs 12oz, Willie Ure three rainbow for 6lbs 4oz including the heaviest fish with a 3lbs 1oz all on power bait, Jim Tomlinson three rainbow for 6lbs 4oz on a green montana, Tom Collins two rainbows on power bait for 4lbs 2oz, Jim McHattie one rainbow for 2lbs on power bait, Eric Greenwood one rainbow for 2lbs on power bait.

Jim Phillips was first with four rainbowss in under an hour for 8lbs 10oz on floating power bait, Kevin Hiddleston was second with four rainbows for 7lbs 9oz on power bait, J. Longstreet two blues on floating power bait and two rainbows sinking power bait for 7lbs.

BURNS TROUT FISHERY (Tarbolton): the fishery is holding the Mima Harvey open fly and the Burns Trout Fishery open bait competitions on Sunday, August 12 from 8am to 4pm.

Irvine District AC Club visited. Junior results: 1. B Caveman, four for 9lb 11oz; 2. L Gorman, four for 10lb 7oz; 3. A Gorman, four for 8lb 14oz. Seniors: 1. A Todman, four for 8lb 3oz; 2. R McCairn, two for 4lb 10oz. 41 fish were caught in total.

The JJL AC also visited. At their weigh in, the winner was C Jackson with four for 8lb 3oz.

COYLE WATER FISHERY (Coylton): The Kilwinning Masonic Lodge had a great day, catching 24 fish between them on a rain interrupted day.

Bait pond: Allan and Alex Gillespie from Kirkoswald caught eight fish weighing 13.5 lb, Mr McLuckie from Ayr six fish weighing 10.25 lb, D. Campbell from Irvine five fish weighing 10.68 lb, Mr Goble from Austria five fish weighing 8.14 lb, five-year-old Erin McGaw from Kilmarnock four fish weighing 8.3 lb, Mr Melvin from Ayr two fish weighing 4.28 lb, nine-year-old Aisha Maughan from Ayr two fish weighing 4.2 lb, Mr McDonald from Ayr two fish weighing 4.6 lb, nine-year-old Amy caught five beautiful rainbow trout weighing 10.75 lb.

Fly pond: Mike Denton from Ayr caught 12 fish over three visits using various dry flies, Mr Paige from Drongan 10 fish using a white blob, J. Hart from Irvine 10 fish using various buzzers, M. McGarvie from Kilmarnock six fish using an okee dokee, B. Marriot from Salisbury six fish using a yellow dancer, C. Campbell from Tarbolton five fish using an okee dokee, J. Murdoch from Drongan five fish using a white blob, D. Taylor from Drongan five fish using a white blob.
