AYR ANGLING CLUB: catches on the river are variable due to the water levels although Frank McGough had a nice 10lb cock salmon on a toby at Gadgirth.
There was also a report of a clean 4lb hen fish caught at Craigie pool. The lochs are fishing well and all are stocked.
Snipe Loch catch for the previous week was 57 rainbows to 4½ lbs.
The revised date for the Snipe junior competition is Saturday, July 21 from 10am to 4pm. Good prizes are on offer including a rod, tackle vouchers and trophies. Details from Billy Ritchie (tel: 01292 880669).
COYLE WATER FISHERY (Coylton): the fishery is practically weed free now. Great meals can be enjoyed in the Waterfront restaurant.
Bait pond: J. Miller from Ayr caught seven fish weighing 14.5 lb, J. Holland from Prestwick five fish weighing 12.5 lb, Master Green from Mossblown two fish weighing 5 lb, C.Curtis from Mossblown two fish weighing 5.8 lb, Kai McVey from Mossblown two fish weighing 3.8 lb, Mr Venard from Girvan caught a nice rainbow trout weighing 2.4 lb.
Fly pond: S.Higgins from Galston caught 15 fish using various caldies, Mr McKean from Irvine nine fish using diawa bachs, Mr McBlane from Irvine six fish using a mixture of caldies and buzzers, Mr Clark from Mauchline five fish using various dry flies, M. Denton from Ayr four fish using C.D.C. flies, S. Haye from Glasgow three fish weighing 7.2 lb, and released another using various dry flies, Mr Smith from Sanquhar three fish using dry flies, H. Flemming from Bathgate two fish using a black hopper.
BURNS TROUT FISHERY (Tarbolton): the fishery is holding the Mima Harvey open fly competition and the Burns Trout Fishery open bait competition on Sunday, August 12 from 8am to 4pm.

RAITH RESERVOIR (Prestwick): the weeds are now in full bloom and proving a bit of an advantage as the fish appear to be lying in the deeper water. The only change needed is heavier line and power bait.
John Lothian just made his double figures with 10 on power bait, M. Hornby four rainbows for 91/2lbs on power bait, W. McIntosh four, W. Scott four but both forgot what they were and how they caught them!
Allan Carruthers three rainbows for 4lbs on power bait, W. Ure one blue 1 3/4lbs in Boathouse Bay on power bait.
The club thank Sunday’s work party for their efforts, a good job well done.
