Angling roundup:s June 22

RAITH RESERVOIR (Prestwick): most not familiar with the noble art will tell you: "Is it not better fishing when it’s raining?"

Well they were proven right during the torrential rain that was the weekend. Those who braved it opted to seek what little shelter there was and coorie in.

First down the road was John Crichton with two rainbows on two casts then two on one cast which proved a pantomime. Fortunately, Stewart Greenwood was on hand to net one. Total weight 8lbs 8oz on power bait.

Slightly further along the bank Jim Phillips, hiding in a bush, had four for 8lbs on power bait, Tom Drummond four on power bait for 10lbs, Jim Gillespie one on a gold mepp and three on power bait for 10lbs, Bob Younger four rainbows on power bait for 9lbs 14oz, John Anderson three rainbows for 6lbs on power bait,

Huddled in Curley’s Corner, Bernie Dunlop had three rainbows for 7½lbs. Good job he brought a Twix as his piece was sodden and he could not pick his horses as his paper was the same. Pal Eric Greenwood had three rainbow for 6½lbs on power bait.

Stevie Ross, still trying to prove a point, dragged up sons Liam and Joseph for a wee demonstration. Stevie two rainbows for 3lbs 7oz, Joseph two rainbows for 3lbs spinning and Liam two on power bait for 4lbs 2oz (maybe next time), Neil McGinn two rainbows on power bait for 5½lbs, Stewart Dunlop one rainbow for 3lbs and lost one.

After all said and done, maybe not an enjoyable one but a good sporting weekend and sensible bags taken.
