DO you want to learn more about carp fishing? Ayrshire branch of the Pike Anglers Club of Great Britain are holding a meeting in the Glenburn Miners Club, Prestwick, on Tuesday, June 5.
In conjunction with Springwater Fishery (Dalrymple), there will be a talk and slide show by Colin Currie of the Scottish carp group. Doors opens 7.30pm, 8pm start, members £1, non members £2, pay at the door. Details from Dave Morris (tel: 01292 590346).
COYLE WATER FISHERY (Coylton): warm weather has brought about a good hatch of small flies so many fish are being caught on dry flies.
Bait pond: Mr Smith from Prestwick caught four fish weighing 9.4 lb, Mr McDonald from Ayr caught four weighing 8.5 lb, Mr Brown from Cumnock caught four weighing 8.2 lb, Mr Davidson from Ayr caught three weighing 7 lb, Mr McLaughlin from Hamilton caught two weighing 5 lb, Mr Doak from Duntocher caught a nice rainbow weighing 2.5 lb.
Fly pond: I. Muncie from Dreghorn caught and released seven fish using a daddy long legs, Mike Denton from Ayr caught seven over two visits using a caldy and diawa bachs, F. Murdoch from Ayr caught four using a hawthorn fly, Davie Galloway from Prestwick caught three using daddy long legs, Mr McKeen from Ayr caught two weighing 4.5 lb, Mr McGregor from Cumnock caught two using a shipman's buzzer, Mr Baird from Cumnock caught two using buzzers.
SPRINGWATER FISHERY (Dalrymple): fly still fishing well during the hot days, evenings better .
Colin Campbell two fish for 7lbs 9oz, biggest 3lbs 15oz and released another two caught on a black buzzer deep, Capper released six on a pheasant tail nymph with a gold head, Adam Best released nine on a yellow dancer.
Winner of Beith Angling Club's outing was Grant with four fish for 9lbs 12oz caught on a red headed damsel. Well done to Capper who caught a carp of about 15lbs on the fly loch with a small nymph.
On the bait loch, five-year-old Mason Salmon was at it again, with three fish to his dad's two. Mason still has the biggest fish of the month with 3lbs 13 oz.
Coarse loch fishing has been great for silvers. Steve Wright had 30lbs 10oz of roach caught up in the water with maggot. Scouse from Drongan and D. Duncan both had over 30lbs of skimmers. Biggest carp was caught by Dave Morris at 10lbs 10oz.
BURNS TROUT FISHERY (Tarbolton): the fishery is holding open evening fly and bait competitions on Saturday, June 2 from 5pm to 10pm. Cost is £20 including food, (£5 for food if not fishing). Both competitions will be a four fish limit, heaviest bag wins. Trophies for first three.

Brian Walsh and wife, on holiday from Little Hampton, had two great days with eight fish kept at 19lb 7oz. Danny Szulc 11 cr, Archie Thom nine cr, Geordie Kerr five cr Budgie two cr Olaf four cr, Stevie three cr. Small buzzers fished just below the surface are having great success.
Coarse pond: Ewan Weed and Barry Young both qualify for fish 4 2k final after framing at Saturday’s match. It was won by Tommy Mitchell (micale baits) with 27lb 8oz.

RAITH RESERVOIR (Prestwick): the scorching weather defied all logic and rubbished the theory book on best practices.

Jess three, four day tickets returned 13 fish for 30 lbs but never left any more details, T. Collins “I always fish the fly” two for 5lbs on power bait, Curdy Hay two on the floating worm, two on the floating worm for ‘J’ and the same for Tommy Patterson, Jim Phillips one rainbow for 1½lbs, Davie Millar one for 1½lbs on a Ace of Spades, J. Currie one, another two returns just a three and a two?
Saturday, June 2 is the two man and first leg of the open competitions from 8am until 4pm. Tarbolton Field sports Association will hold their fishing venue on Raith Reservoir the same day. The club would like members to afford their guests the customary hospitality. Day tickets will be made welcome.
