AYR ANGLING CLUB: all club waters have been stocked and fishing well with most anglers achieving bag limits.
In approximately two weeks, extensive renovation work at the Snipe Loch, lasting two to three weeks, will commence. This may entail a short period where the loch may be partially closed.

COYLE WATER FISHERY (Coylton): the dry fly fishing has finally taken off with fish being caught on the surface on all types of dry flies.
Bait pond: Mr Stoves from Ayr caught four fish weighing 10.4 lb, Chris Hoddinotte from Moniave caught two weighing 5.7 lb, T. Barrie from Ayr caught two weighing 4.1 lb, S. McGuire from Ayr caught two weighing 3.9 lb, James Little from Kelloholm caught a nice rainbow trout weighing 2.43 lb.
Fly pond: M. Denton from Ayr caught 23 fish over two visits using mainly dry flies, Craig Campbell from Tarbolton caught four using a green machine, Mr Murdoch from Dalrymple caught five using a mixture of flies, Steven Carr from Alloway caught three weighing 7.6 lb using an ace of spades, D. Duncan from Drongan caught six fish using CDC.
T. Down from Mauchline caught a nice fish weighing 2.3 lb and released two others, T. Ruggeri from Auchinleck caught two fish weighing 4½ lb using caldies, Mr Blakey from Ayr caught two weighing 3.9 lb and released four others, A. White from Prestwick caught two weighing 4.1 lb using a black spider.
BURNS TROUT FISHERY (Tarbolton): the fishery is holding an open fly competition on Sunday, May 20 from 8am until 4pm. Cost is £15, four fish limit, heaviest bag wins, trophies for first three. Bookings to 07527 405715 or go to Burns page on Facebook.
Winner of the open bait competition was Kim Dunnachie with four fish for 11lb 2oz, second was F Laird with four for 8lb 14oz while third was Joe Adams with four for 8lb 12oz, A total of 37 fish were caught.

A members only competition will be held on Saturday, May 19. £20 entry fee which includes three fish, lunch, free tea and coffee all day. Prize money for top three and trophy for winner.
SPRINGWATER FISHERY (Dalrymple): fly pond fished well. Capper released eight fish on a two hour session on a hares lug. John Allardyce caught four for 12lb 10oz on a yellow dancer and released another four.
On the bait pond, eight-year-old Scott Blackhurst showed his dad how it’s done on a parent and child five fish ticket. Scott had four fish for 9lb 12oz while his dad got one for 3lb 13oz. H. Inglis had three fish for 5lb 15oz while Paul Campbell had two for 5lb 2oz. Best bait was worm.
Coarse pond: plenty of roach and rudd and skimmers getting caught, big carp still being caught. Best bait for carp was boillies.
Springwater are holding a new heaviest fish competition on both fly and bait pond. Heaviest fish of the month gets either a bottle of vodka, a bottle of whisky or a tackle voucher. Free to enter, all fish MUST be weighed by a member of staff.
On Monday to Friday, it’s £1 off all tickets for pensioners.
On Sunday, June 3 there is a bait competition, £20 for five fish and lunch, tackle prizes depending on entry. Bookings to 01292 560343.
RAITH RESERVOIR (Prestwick): a well attended week. The lovely weather paid dividends for T. Wilson with eight fish on power bait, Joe Smolcic five for 9½lbs on power bait, T. Drummond four on power bait, John Patterson four on the running worm, R. Baillie four on power bait, J. Lothian three, Neil Follon three, D. Caldwell jnr two, G. Derby two, Brian Goudie two for 7lbs on a silver toby, A. Muir two for 7lbs on a purple toby, Robert Simpson two on power bait, J. Alexander one on power bait, ‘I am Legend’ Shalako a 2lbs 4oz specimen and the only man to fill in his return correctly, just won’t tell you his method John McCririe two for 4½lbs, day ticket S. Forsyth a 3 lbs rainbow, Andy Given one, W. Ure one for 2lbs on power bait, M. Hornby one for 2¼lbs, R. Scott one, Robert. McLean one on power bait, Andy Faichney one on the running worm.
Wednesday, May 9 is the fly only competition. The water will be closed from 6pm on Tuesday 8th until 6pm on the 9th.
