RAITH RESERVOIR (Prestwick): the back to winter change put the dampener on the Monday club but didn’t deter J. Lothian who took another four which takes him to 12 in three days and filled his freezer.
M. Spence had at least four but was persuaded to take a sabatical until the end of the month. The improving weather tempted out some others with Brian Goudie four for 4¾lbs on a silver toby, dad Frick blanked it and wants it kept quiet. Jim Phillips one 2lbs rainbow on power bait.
The club’s annual open day is scheduled for Saturday, April 21 from 9am to 4pm with usual prize money for first and second places, heaviest fish and the five tagged fish. There is an as much as you can eat barbeque all for £14 and the now legendary raffle.
A work party has been arranged for Sunday, April 15 from 9am to noon. A good turnout would be appreciated.

COYLE WATER FISHERY (Coylton): there are still spaces available in the fly fishing competition on Sunday, April 22 with cash prizes for the top three anglers and a prize for the heaviest fish. Bookings to John on 07808 052955 or Mike on 07763 115411.
Warmer weather has bought the fish to the surface with some being taken on dry flies, wee nymphs and buzzers.
Dumfries Angling Club spent an enjoyable day and most anglers took their full bag on a perfect day for fishing.
Bait pond: M. McCrorie from Ayr caught two fish weighing 3¾lbs, K. Oliver two weighing 3½lbs, Mr Little from Ayr two weighing 4lb, S. Sinclair from Stevenson four weighing 9lb using worms, W. Doak from Clydebank three weighing 5¾lb.
Fly pond: M. Denton from Ayr caught 11 fish over two visits using a yellow dancer, Mr Merriot snr from Salisbury seven over two visits using various flies, Mr Merriot jnr from Salisbury four using a yellow dancer, Mr Robertson from Annbank two weighing 5 lb and released seven others, G. Hollow from Cumnock four weighing 9¼lb using a white buzzer, Mr Naismith from Cumnock four weighing 7.45lb using various buzzers, Mr Chang from Ayr four using various nymphs, H. Barclay from Kilmarnock four using buzzers.
BURNS TROUT FISHERY (Tarbolton): the fishery is holding an open bait competition on Sunday, April 29 from 8am until 4pm. Cost £15 with a four fish limit, heaviest bag wins. Trophies for first three.

Keith Henry won the senior troutmasters fish off with four fish for 9lb 4oz while Connor Greenan won the junior troutmasters fish off with two for 4lb 4oz. Thirty-four fish were caught in total.
Strathy Angling Club visited and caught 24 fish between them. Heaviest bag went to S Howe with four fish for 9lb 11oz (one at 4lb).

The Wullie Wilson snr competition for members only takes place on Saturday, April 14, £20 entry fee which includes three fish, lunch, free tea and coffee all day. Prize money for top three and trophy for winner.
SPRINGWATER FISHERY (Dalrymple): There is £1 off all pensioners’ tickets Monday to Friday. There is now a competition every month for the heaviest fish caught in the bait and fly lochs. Prize is a bottle of whisky or vodka. If a junior wins they can have a tackle voucher so don’t forget to weigh your fish in.
The fly loch is fishing well. Mr Blackwood from Southport released 16 on a c/r ticket and caught fish all round the loch. Bait pond best catch goes to the Meiklem family with eight fish for 20lbs 11oz.
Coarse pond fishing well with plenty of roach and skimmers being caught also a few tench out. Great to see the big carp swimming about after the winter.
