COYLE WATER FISHERY (Coylton): the fishery is holding a fly only competition on Sunday, April 22 with cash prizes for the top three anglers and a prize for the biggest fish. Entry fee is £25 including lunch. Bookings to John (tel: 07808 052955).
Bait pond: Mr Aitken from Ayr caught five fish weighing 9.9 lb, young Aiden Boon from Ayr caught three weighing 7.10 lb. on his first attempt at fishing, Mr Robertson from Ayr caught two weighing 4.2 lb, Mr Martin from Ayr caught three weighing 7.1 lb, Mr Bradford from Ayr caught two weighing 4.85 lb.
Fly pond: W. Riddocks from Ayr caught and released 10 fish using various buzzers and dry flies, T. Mitchell from Fenwick caught nine using various coloured buzzers, H. Barclay from Kilmarnock caught five using hoppers, I.Muncie from Dreghorn caught four using his green machine, Mr Harvey from Ayr caught four weighing 10.76 lb. using a yellow dancer, Mr Jardine from Kirkintilloch caught four weighing 11.25 lb, Mr Young from Springside caught four using a pearly buzzer, Mr. Brown from Prestwick caught three fish using a black cormorant.
BURNS TROUT FISHERY (Tarbolton): the fishery is holding an open bait competition on Sunday, April 29 from 8am until 4pm. Cost £15, four fish limit, heaviest bag wins, trophies for first three.

The Wullie Wilson snr competition for members only takes place on Saturday, April 14. £20 entry fee includes three fish, lunch, free tea and coffee all day. Prize money for top three and trophy for winner.
RAITH RESERVOIR (Prestwick): the traditional working man’s weekend started a tad disappointing with the water a sheet of glass accompanied with a blazing sun.
Day ticket holder S. Greenwood showed how it’s done with four for 10lbs, so did dad Eric with four for 8¼lbs on power bait and Jim McHattie from Glasgow with four for 8¼lbs on a silver mepp.
As conditions changed, Davie Boyd landed four on a silver mepp but forgot the weight, Gordon Cowan from Stirling had four rainbows for 10lbs on the humble worm, Jim Gillespie landed one for 3½lbs on the worm and another two on power bait, Robert Simpson had three on power bait, Stevie Richmond had three on a yellow dancer and son Mathew had two on a silver toby.
Frick Goudie came up trumps with two on his No 2 red and gold mepp, Neil McGinn also one blue and one rainbow on a montana nymph for 4lbs 10oz, John Mosby having lost four on a 5cm Rapala was quite happy to bag two rainbow for 4lbs on power bait Jim McGuffie was equally as happy with one on the floating worm and one on power bait for 4lbs 4oz, John Lothian, representing the seniors, managed four on power bait but forgot to post a return.
John did manage to register something or another on Sunday which is a wee bit better than Mr Anonymous four?, Tom Collins ‘I always fish the fly’ three for 7½lbs one on a black fritz and two on power bait, Jock Patterson two rainbow for 4 10lbs on the running worm. David Tait managed one on power bait.

BROOMHILL FISHERY (Patna/Rankinston B730): fly pond fishing very well. Daichl bachs, small nymphs, green/black lures proving effective.
